When I work with people one of my goals is to help them identify the underlying thinking that is associated with undesirable emotions and actions. One potential benefit of cognitive therapy is the ability to detect and change deeply held beliefs and attitudes that create and maintain experiences of depression, anxiety, fear, panic and anger.
Cognitive therapy can also help with gaining new understanding about life problems and learn new ways of coping and solving them. With new skills people often report a significant reduction in their experiences of stress, improved overall functioning, and improvement in their relationships.
